Is there an animal lurking in your body? Do you know your ancestors? Is body hair annoying or useful? Plus, a discussion on snails, fish, hedgehogs and chickens.
The purpose of The Animal within activity was to present the evolutionary history of the human body, the characteristics of particular organs and to facilitate an understanding of their functions through a multi-sensory experience.
Through games and experiments, the children learnt about their own bodies: hair, teeth, nails and fingers. They learnt about snails and the first mammal. The workshop also focused on fossils, with participants making their own fossil at the end.
The content of the workshop was tailored to the curiosity of young researchers from the 6-8 and 9-10 age groups.
