The title of the elective course was Life science and society – preservation of large carnivore animals. The lecture series included both themes, with which the Biotechnical Faculty participates in the European Researchers’ Night – Humanities Rock! project.
These are:
– Every Species Needs a Name – Scopoli, a Pioneer of Taxonomy in Slovenia (lecture and identification keys),
– New Discoveries about the Human Fish to the Benefit of Humans and the Olm (presentation).
He thus presented activities and themes of relevance to Slovenia and the wider area to the students of the Ludwigsburg University of Education. At the same time, he presented the didactic possibilities and the importance of integrating the history of science and modern discoveries into the teaching of biological subjects and of linking the subjects to everyday life. He stressed the importance of knowledge for pro-environmental behaviour and the importance of careful observation in research work.
The course was attended by 16 students from different study programmes.
