In the spring of 2022, two second-year students, under the supervision of English language professor Katarina Krapež, prepared a research paper entitled Phrases in our country and beyond the border.
In the school year 2022/23, students worked on phrases with animal themes – in various ways in English and French lessons. In French in the third year of the International School, students compared the characteristics attributed to certain animals in French, English and their mother tongues; in English, students in the third year of the National Programme searched for the origins of phrases, checked the frequency of use in the corpus and creatively depicted the literal meanings of phrases in drawings.
The cooperation between the Bežigrad Grammar School and the Faculty of Arts took the form of meetings, where the faculty mentor, Meta Lah, PhD, provided ideas and advice on how to guide the students in their phrase research, and Katarina Krapež worked directly with the students. In September 2023, a selection of the students’ contributions was edited and compiled in an e-booklet.
