Birds in the City – How do We Watch Birds in an Urban Environment?

During a walk around Ljubljana, participants observeed and listened to birds.

The walk was led by Darko Fekonja from the Natural History Museum of Slovenia and the Society for the Observation and Study of Birds of Slovenia (DOPPS Birdlife Slovenia), Dan Podjed, PhD, author of the book on amateur ornithology Observing the Observers (Znanstvena založba Filozofske fakultete UL, 2011) and Rajko Muršič, PhD, anthropologist and expert in sensory walks.

During the walk, which began in the Foerster Garden (near the Faculty of Arts), participants actively learned about bird watching in an urban environment. Rajko Muršič presented some ethnographic techniques for the sensory experience of urban environments.
