The event will start with a workshop on painting hand fans with East Asian animal motifs, which brings the experience of East Asian brush painting on an empty fan. Participants will learn about animals that have appeared repeatedly in East Asian art, such as birds, insects, fish, bats, tigers and dragons, and then try their hand at brush painting themselves.

The workshop will be led by illustrator Lili Saje Wang and is suitable for all ages (7 years and up).

Applications are being accepted until Thursday 28 September or until places are available. Please, register at blagajna@etno-muzej.si or tel. number 01 3008 745 (Tue-Sun: 10:00-18:00, Thu until 20:00).

At 17:30, the workshop will be followed by a screening of five videos prepared by students of the Department of Asian Studies at the Faculty of Arts, and a panel discussion Animal Symbolism in East Asian Art.

You are cordially invited!
