In many cases, such conditions can be alleviated by so-called equine-assisted activities (EAA). In Slovenia, in contrast to EAA, equine-assisted therapy (EAT) is well established. The latter is a medically based activity. EAA are less formal and do not pursue a medical goal, but simply aim to improve the quality of life of the user.
There is little experience with EAA in Slovenia. Only two small studies have been carried out. In both cases, the positive impact of EAA has been demonstrated and it has been confirmed once again that the applicability of EAA is indeed broad and has many opportunities for use with a wide variety of target groups. In particular, the usefulness for young users suffering from addictions to modern technologies (screen) is highlighted.
At the main event of the European Researchers’ Night – Humanities Rock! project, on 29. September, equine-assisted activities will be presented at a stall and the youngest will have the opportunity to try to »lead a horse on a stick«.
You are cordially invited!
