Therefore, Mateja Gaber, PhD, (Faculty of Arts), as part of the Ich zôch mir einen valken – I Raised a Falcon activity, focused her attention on songs with animal themes.
This is primarily manifested in the image of the falcon, which can be found especially in the “dawn songs”. At the same time, eagles, singing birds in the forest, but also goats, monkeys, turtles and other animals appear in German medieval lyrics.
The initial selection of poems was thus limited to animal themes. However, the literary range of the minesang is so rich and varied that the author has expanded the selection of poems with the most recognisable poems by the main representatives of medieval German lyric poetry and translated them from medieval German into Slovenian.
Rok Pečečnik discussed the Minezang monograph with the translator and author of the accompanying study, Mateja Gaber, PhD, at the Liber.ac Academic Book Fair.
