Who Is the Author? (Ethics, Copyright and AI)

Raising awareness about the importance of intellectual property and the necessity of citing authors on the one hand and condemning the stealing of ideas and plagiarism on the other are key for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the future and a guarantee that we, as an ethical society, will be able to use AI to the advantage, not detriment, of humans.

When using artificial Intelligence and translation engines, there is the immediate problem of authorship and copyright. Who is the author when a text is composed by ChatGPT? Who is responsible for content if a text is translated purely by relying on a translation engine? In these cases, who is responsible or even criminally accountable for the consequences of misstatements and false data?

The event is being prepared for you by Dr Mojca Schlamberger Brezar (UL FF) and Dr Nadja Dobnik (UL EF).
