As part of the Ich zôch mir einen valken – I Raised a Falcon activity, Mateja Gaber, PhD, (Faculty of Arts), Jani Kovačič (Bežigrad Gymnasium) and Aldo Kumar (Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television) focused their attention on songs with animal theme. This theme is primarily manifested in the image of the falcon, which can be found especially in the “dawn songs”.
The selected poems were translated from Middle High German into Slovenian by Mateja Gaber, PhD, and set to music by Jani Kovačič and Aldo Kumar.
Mateja Gaber’s translations were published in a scientific monograph Minezang with an accompanying study. Medieval German lyrics with animal themes were also presented at schools, faculties and academies.
A concert of German medieval love lyrics Minezang took place on 13 September at 7 pm at the Ljubljana City Museum.
