Visit to Ljubljana School Centre

The songs of German Minnesängers used to be almost unknown in the Slovenian language, and above all, they had not been collected in a publication that would explain their origin, function and at the same time introduce their authors. The vast majority of songs was also without musical notation.

This is why, as part of Ich zôch mir einen valken – I Raised a Falcon activity, Mateja Gaber, PhD, (Faculty of Arts), Jani Kovačič (Gimnazija Bežigrad) and Aldo Kumar (Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television) focused their attention on songs with animal theme.

 

This theme primarily takes the image of a falcon and can be found particularly in dawn songs.

 

The selected poems were translated from Middle-High German to Slovenian byMateja Gaber, PhD, and set to music by Jani Kovačič and Aldo Kumar. Mateja Gaber’s translations was published in a monograph along with an accompanying study. The monograph will be presented on 13 September at 19:00 at the Ljubljana City Museum.

 

On the first of June, Mateja Gaber presented the monograph to students of the Ljubljana School Centre, Secondary School of Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry.
